Mamie Roberson

Executive Assistant

After 20 years of traveling with my 3 children to various parts of the world as the proud wife of a US Army Soldier, I have returned to Milwaukee, the place of my birth.  Some things here are just as I left them, others are in need of great change.  Working in the nonprofit sector allows me an opportunity to be a part of the change that is so greatly needed.  I was raised to be optimistic, in spite of negative surroundings, believing always that my life’s journey must include showing love and never passing up an opportunity to help someone in need.

My work with homeless young women gave me the opportunity to encourage and inspire every day, knowing that my reward was never monetary but quite the contrary, it was the satisfaction of knowing that I helped someone to hope again or maybe even for the first time.

Working in the nonprofit sector is such an honor because the goal is always the same and that’s to help the greatest cause of all and that’s the human cause.

I am privileged to work with an organization whose primary mission is to prepare, empower, and inspire our most valued comity, our youth.

Up Close and Personal

What's your most embarrassing childhood memory?

Wearing my favorite outfit and finding out at the end of the day that part of my skirt had been tucked into my tights for most of the afternoon.

What is something that you didn’t do that you wish you had?

Sky dive!!! I imagine the experience would involve every emotion all at once, fear, excitement, anxiety, calmness, peace and of course gratefulness if you have a safe landing!

If you could pick a new name for yourself, what name would you pick and why?

I would change my name to Grace, because it’s a reminder every day that God loves me and is always with me to help in spite of my short comings. I try to model this in my life, always remembering that no one on earth is perfect.
