Leadership, communication skills, community involvement, and philanthropy are characteristics I attribute to my participation in Lead2Change. As a member of Lead2Change, I served many positions of leadership that has assisted me in my ability to lead throughout my undergraduate career at Benedict College where I served as Student Government Association President, to currently as a Doctor of Pharmacy student holding multiple leadership positions at South University School of Pharmacy. Different leadership styles, mentors and working with peer leaders helped to groom me into the leader I am today. Communication with community organizations, leaders, and advocates was a major skill perfected as a member of Lead2Change. Public speaking, representing the organization at community events and meetings allowed me to become an effective communicator and enhanced my networking abilities. Philanthropy is giving time, money or service to benefit others. Being a member of Lead2Change was not only rewarding in building skills needed to be successful, but also in knowing the time and effort was to help others in my community. It is imperative to understand the importance of community service as a youth. This instilled the willingness to continue to serve the community as an adult and now I plan, execute and participate in numerous community service and philanthropic events.

Lead2Change and the characteristics I learned from being a member has played a unique role in my choice to become a Pharmacist. Pharmacy is the premiere field that has a direct relationship with the community, easily accessible and have a daily interaction with patients. As a pharmacist I will use all the skills I have learned as a member of Lead2Change. Leadership with overseeing my team of employees, communication skills with explaining the different use and effects of medication, community involvement with direct community interactions and philanthropy offering immunization clinics, medication reviews and healthcare events to the underserved population. Overall, Lead2Change has shaped me to become a better leader, advocate and successful professional.
